Should you, or should you not accept welfare? That’s totally up to you. If you accept welfare what you are doing is accepting a payment directly from the Department of Social Services on behalf of your tenant.
You will need to submit to them your social security number and bank information. They will submit the rent, all or a portion, to you. Evicting a bad tenant may prove a bit more difficult though in the City of Schenectady. So its totally up to you.
I personally do not accept Welfare or Section 8. That is making a contract with a government service and I personally do not want any part of it. Some people love it, some don’t understand it but we will try to explain it in terms that the LANDLORD understands.
