Woman faces charges in tire iron attack
SCHENECTADY — An alleged tire iron attack this week has a city woman facing charges.
Yalonda S. Sawyer, 26, of Crane Street, used the tire iron to hit the victim in the back several times just before 8 a.m. Tuesday at Third Avenue and Sergeant Place, according to papers filed in court. The victim suffered bruising and red raised marks and was treated at the scene.
Sawyer is also accused of breaking the victim’s cell phone and apartment door, according to papers.
She faces one felony count each of second-degree assault and third-degree criminal mischief.

Punch draws assault charge
SCHENECTADY — An alleged attack last month has resulted in a felony charge.
Chadwick Tulloch, 23, of Duane Avenue, is accused of punching a 52-year-old man in the eye and left side of his face on Harvard Street Oct. 10. The victim was treated for an orbital fracture and head injury and requires further treatment and possible surgery, according to papers filed in court.
Tulloch was arrested Wednesday and charged with second-degree assault, a felony.

Teen accused in summer break-in
SCHENECTADY — A city teen is accused of breaking into an apartment over the summer and taking several items.
Shameil D. McCoy, 17, of Kelton Avenue, broke into an Edward Street address July 13 and took property valued at more than $1,000, according to papers filed in court.
McCoy was charged Tuesday with felony counts of second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny.

Inmate accused of biting guard
SCHENECTADY — An inmate at the Schenectady County jail is accused of biting a corrections officer earlier this month.
Christopher Lopez-Cruz, 27, is accused of biting the officer in the hand at the jail Nov. 6, requiring the officer to be taken to Ellis Hospital for evaluation, according to papers filed in court.
He was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor.
Lopez-Cruz was originally booked into the jail that day on a resisting arrest charge, according to records.
